Knowing About God or Really Knowing God
By Kelly Mowrer
What is the difference between knowing a lot about God and really knowing God?
People who know a lot about God are proud of their extensive, ample knowledge;
People who really know God are humbly thankful, and they are hungry to know Him better.
People who know a lot about God feel superior and are quick to judge others;
People who really know God are compassionate and quick to show mercy.
People who know a lot about God choose to acknowledge Him when it is comfortable or convenient for them--they maintain control;
People who really know God live and move and breathe with awareness of Him in every area of their lives--they yield every decision, and thought, and action, to His will.
People who know a lot about God strive to pray eloquently to Him;
People who really know God pour out their hearts before Him and eagerly listen to hear His voice in their personal circumstances.
People who know a lot about God study the Bible and memorize God’s law…and remain fundamentally unchanged;
People who really know God are changed in every area of their life; they are transformed to be like Him.
