Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Serenity Prayer amplified by Karen Drexler

Heavenly Father, I ask that you give me peace in my heart and a true acceptance regarding circumstances in my life that are not able to change—that I have no control over changing. I can do this only with the help of the Holy Spirit and Your words in my heart; speaking Your truth, and not being distracted by the voice of the Enemy.

I ask that you give me Holy courage to change the things you would have me to change. And to change them in a way that glorifies You-- in a Spirit-controlled manner, not in my own human anger or irritation.

I ask that you give me Biblical wisdom,  and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to know the difference between the things I can and should change, and the things I cannot. This is not something I know on my own; I need You.

Please help me to live one day at a time, not becoming overwhelmed by all of my future tasks, but trusting in You moment by moment. Help me to notice and enjoy the things You have for me to enjoy.  Remind me that when hardships come my way, You are there to help me.  Do not let my emotions rule me, but focus me on the truth of Your Word, knowing that the hardships can draw me closer to You and I can learn from them.

Please help me to realize that I cannot control the sin of the world or my enemies, let alone the actions of those close to me. Help me to trust in You to make all things right in the end; to vindicate me in the eyes of those who hurt me.  Guide me in letting go of any feelings of judgment I may have about anyone or anything. I claim the promise that the Judge of all the earth will do right. It is not my place.  Search my heart & show me the wicked ways I have that still need changing—I know they are there.

Please keep fresh in my mind that even when it is not well with my external, earthly circumstances, it can be well within my heart, because my sense of peace, happiness & fulfillment comes from YOU, not from anything on earth. Keep my heart, my eyes, my thoughts pointed towards You, knowing that my happiness will be fulfilled when we are together in Heaven.

Amen.
