Favorite Quotes About Patience

Father, I pray that no circumstance however bitter or however long drawn out, may cause me to break Thy law, the Law of Love to Thee and to my neighbor. That may not become resentful, have hurt feelings, hate, or become embittered by life's experiences, but that in and through all I may see Thy guiding hand and have a heart full of gratitude for Thy daily mercy, daily love, daily power, and daily presence.
Help me in the day when I need it most to remember that:
  • All things work together for good to them that love the Lord.
  • I can do all things through Him that strengthened me.
  • My grace is sufficient for thee, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.
'Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever, Amen.'  -Eric Liddell

Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. - Isaiah 40:31

The person who bears and suffers evils with meekness and silence, is the sum of a Christian man.
–Charles Wesley

Unbelief puts circumstances between itself and Christ, so as not to see Him.…Faith puts Christ between itself and circumstances, so that it cannot see them. -F.B. Meyer

Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret, it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.
-Psalm 37:7-9

Men point to the sad incidents of human life on earth, and they ask “Where is the love of God?”
God points to that Cross as the unreserved manifestation of love so inconceivably infinite as to answer every challenge and silence all doubt for ever.
And that Cross is not merely the public proof of what God has accomplished; it is the earnest of all that He has promised. -Sir Robert Anderson

As to your burden, be content to bear it until you come to the place of deliverance, for there it will fall from your back by itself. -John Bunyan
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
-Galatians 6:9

If honest of heart and upright of goodness before God were lacking, or if I did not patiently wait on God for instruction, or if I preferred the counsel of my fellow men to the declarations of the Word of God, I made great mistakes.  –George Mueller

Wait for the Lord; be strong, take courage, and wait for the Lord.  -Psalm 27:14

The moment an ill can be patiently handled, it is disarmed of its poison, though not of its pain.
-Henry Ward Beecher

And we urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all men. -1 Thessalonians 5:14

It is hard to wait and press and pray, and hear no voice, but stay till God answers. - E. M. Bounds

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love,... -Ephesians 4:1-2

Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them - every day begin the task anew.
-Frances de Sales

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.  - 2 Peter 3:9

We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world. -Helen Keller

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.  -Psalm 86:15

Do daily and hourly your duty; do it patiently and thoroughly. Do it as it presents itself; do it at the moment, and let it be its own reward. Never mind whether it is known and acknowledged or not, but do not fail to do it. -James H. Aughey

For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.  -Romans 8:24-25

Christ bears with the saints' imperfections; well may the saints one with another. -William Gurnall

But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. -1 Timothy 1:16

What then are we to do about our problems? We must learn to live with them until such time as God delivers us from them. We must pray for grace to endure them without murmuring. Problems patiently endured will work for our spiritual perfecting. They harm us only when we resist them or endure them unwillingly.
-A.W.Tozer

And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. -Hebrews 6:11-12
